“ You need to be humble, you can’t get too filled with your self, with all your knowledge, with spiritual things and spiritual matters, and get bloated on how much you know. This is all about non-knowing. It is very simple once you begin to grasp that your freedom is just on the edge of your mind –you learn to live there. You learn how to do it organismicaly; you don’t need to be taught through techniques necessarily. Your own Attention is sacred; it is a sacred doorway to the Absolute, into the Total Reality, so recognize it as such. There is no higher god, no higher being than you.”
-David Spero
I remember being at Sri Aurobindo Asharam and was fortunate enough to have an inside connection to some senior devotees there who showed me around and told me some special stories about Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. When I remarked about how special the Shakti was, around Aurobindo and The Mother's Mahasamadhi Tomb, I was told that, "that energy is everywhere, that you can always find it." David has pointed me in this direction, and I especially enjoy the quote above as instructing us that way. It is our very attention that is the Divine in extension and as the medium by which we traverse all of the worlds, or lokas. Attention is the crucible, the matrix, the Mother, the plenum. Right here where we are sitting, right now, we sit on the gold mine.
This reminds me of the story of Mullah Nasruddin looking for his donkey, when he was sitting on it all along, or Nisagardatta Maharaj, when he said: "You Always Want What You Cannot Have & Don't Want What You Have , To Be Self-Realized Just Reverse It" We have it already but we search through techniques, rituals, etc when the ultimate Yajna, or sacrificial fire that we can make offerings into is our own Attention, Consciousness itself.
Praise to the Teacher!
Beautiful.
Your posts are very inspiring. Thanks for sharing your insights and knowledge with other devotees.
thank you.
Thanks. Are you still coming to San Francisco?
Yes, quite soon.
I'm planning to arrive to Larkspur on 11th Sept. :)
That's great for you.
Hopefully I'll see you there.
