Receiving darshan from an enlightened master is an entrainment with his life rhythm. If you are not in sync with him, then being in his presence will cause you gradually to fall into synchronism with his energy. This is the beauty of a living master, and as David says, your attention on him, listening to his words, observing his countenance, feeling his energy, surrendering into innocence in this moment with him will open that connection. This is the essence of David’s teaching. The knowledge he teaches is secondary. Meditation and other practices that you may do can facilitate this or not. Everyone is different. I believe it is possible to gain full realization just from spending time in the presence of a fully realized teacher. It establishes the rate of energetic vibration of the life force for realization until it can be maintained. However, until oneness with the teacher or established entrainment comes about by grace, realization has not been achieved.
